The 41st edition of Art Basel closed on Sunday, June 20, 2010. This year, the annual reunion of the international artworld attracted more than 62,500 artists, collectors, curators, and art lovers from around the globe, a new record for attendance at the show. The participating galleries, art lovers, and media were unanimous in pronouncing this a superb year for the show in terms of quality. Collectors rewarded the excellent material and booth presentations with strong sales throughout the week.

The World Watch and Jewellery Show BASELWORLD has received the GACG Award 2010 in Paris from the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group (GACG) for its endeavours in the fight against product piracy and for the protection of intellectual property.As part of the World Day against Counterfeiting in Paris, the show management of the BASELWORLD Watch and Jewellery Show the so-called "Trophée de l'Authentique”. This award was made especially in recognition of the endeavours of the BASELWORLD Panel, which, as an internal arbitration tribunal for the show, has been engaged in the protection of intellectual property for more than 25 years and has thus been supporting the worldwide fight against counterfeit products.

The offer of MCH Group Ltd. to the shareholders of Beaulieu Exploitation SA – the company which operates the exhibition and congress centre in Lausanne – has been taken up. Within the 30-day submission period, which ran from 16 March to 16 April 2010, some 86 percent of the shares were tendered to MCH Group Ltd. The agreed condition of at least two thirds has thus been fulfilled.

Working on the basis of a signed framework agreement, the MCH Group Ltd. is submitting a purchase offer of CHF 190 per share to the shareholders of Beaulieu Exploitation SA. For the purchase to be completed, at least two thirds of the shares must be tendered to the MCH Group Ltd. The offer period is running from 16 March to 16 April 2010.

Swissbau in Basel has emphatically confirmed its position as the leading exhibition and most important meeting place for the construction and real-estate sector in Switzerland and its neighbouring countries. The 1211 exhibitors from 21 countries had only positive things to say about the successful staging of the exhibition. They highlighted in particular the high quality of the 108269 visitors and their investment plans. The President of the Swiss Confederation, Doris Leuthard, referred in her opening speech before an audience of prominent figures from the fields of politics and business to the importance of the construction and real-estate sector for economic growth and stability in Switzerland. “Every company which invests in climate protection today will be one of tomorrow’s world market leaders. MCH Swiss Exhibition (Basel) Ltd. – an MCH Group company – is acquiring 100% of Exhibit & More Ltd. in Fällanden. After the MCH Group took out a 40% holding in Exhibit & More Ltd. in July 2007, the latter is now being fully integrated in the MCH Group retroactively as of 1 January 2010.
